Naples and Pompeii guided tour
We invite you on a one-day excursion to visit two cities: one with an ancient history, an impulsive city living a modern life, where past and present have blended like the ingredients of a fragrant pizza, giving it a unique flavour, the other frozen in the centuries as it was two thousand years ago? Naples and Pompeii await you, and with them history and facts, myths and legends related to the monuments and famous historical characters whose lives are linked to these places.
Naples is a city of ambiguity and complexity, but very interesting and colourful, worthy of attention. Its history is rich and complex, with origins stretching back to antiquity and the ancient Greeks who travelled the Mediterranean in search of better places to live. Echoes of this distant past are preserved in the name of the city of Naples - New Polis - New Town. The streets of the old city retain the memory of the ancient Romans, who had taken over from the Greeks. The long Spakkanapoli that cuts through the city is an echo of those times and a walk through it is like a journey through the millennia of the city's history. The majolica courtyard of S. Chiara church, the Duomo of S. Januarius, San Severo Chapel, the Archaeological Museum and the Capodimonte Museum: Naples' treasures attract art lovers, the local metro is a modern art museum and is among the most beautiful in the world, while the underground fascinates the imagination.
So, even if you're not into history, architecture and art, you'll love the world-famous Naples cuisine, sweets and coffee.
To understand Naples and maybe even to love it, you have to put aside all preconceptions and open your heart and mind to the new. Our job is to help you do this and show you the city in all its diversity, opening its soul to you and making it an accomplice.
A half hour by car and you're transported to another dimension. Everything here is as it was two thousand years ago. Imagination and a guide will help you hide the imperfections of time and see the city in all its splendour: bright, noisy, alive, under the deep blue of a bright sky, against a volcano dangerously calm in its calmness.
The ancient city of Pompeii is one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. Thanks to the excellent preservation of the city, researchers have been able to study the customs and way of life of the citizens of that time. The archaeological excavations which started in the middle of the XVIII century brought back to life the ancient Roman city, buried for ages under the ashes of the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Most of the finds are preserved in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, their study helped to understand the customs, habits and lifestyle of the people of that bygone era. A tour of ancient Pompeii will take you through the ancient cobbled streets of the city, past well-preserved houses with frescoes and mosaics and visit the most famous and interesting sites: the forum, thermae, the lupanarium.
For time travellers, a trip to Pompeii will be an indispensable experience to immerse yourself in the way of life of the past, while a walk around Naples will help you get acquainted with the way of life of a city trying to keep up with the fast-paced modern world while maintaining its ancient traditions and the flavour of local life.
