Naples
Naples is an ambiguous and complicated city, but a very interesting and colourful one that deserves attention. Its history is rich and complex, with origins stretching back to antiquity and the ancient Greeks who travelled the Mediterranean in search of better places to live. Echoes of this distant past are preserved in the name of the city of Naples - New Polis - New Town. The streets of the old city retain the memory of the ancient Romans, who had taken over from the Greeks. The long Spaccanapoli, which cuts through the city, is an echo of those times and a walk along it is like a journey through the city's thousand-year history.
